tuesday 2nd march

hello everyone!  we have finished crossing the Nullabor - at last  After Eucla we went to a bird observatory where you can stay the night. they had some tiny little possums in some mattresses - they were about 5cm big.  After there it was more and more desert but it is not sandy it is more like savannah . Then we got to norseman which is at the western end of the Nullabor.  In Norsemaan there was a lady with lots of animals in her house - these included hundreds of budgies, 7 baby kangaroos, some chichihuahuas and a small orphaned wattle bird named burgle who was very hungry. I had the job of feeding him - he was very noisey and climbed up onto my shoulder.  Then it was onto Esperance where we are still now.  We went out on a boat in the Archipelego which is a marine park full of hundreds and undreds pf islands. We went out to Woody Island where there is a visitor centre and we went on a glass bottom boat - it was really fun.  The next day we went on a 4 wheel drive tour.  We went up to some sand dunes where we did sand boarding which is a bit like snow boarding or skateboarding except on sand - it was really cool. Dad flew back to England on Saturday so we are here until Thursday, then we are going on to perth. There is a really huge pier here which I went and jumped off - it was about 8 foot above the water level - it was so fun.  We maybe going on a journey out into the outback in a 4WD up to Alice Springs and Ayers Rock - that will take about 3 weeks but we need to wait fo Dad to come back. Hope everyone at home is well - talk to you soon - Michael - ps ten weeks to go before coming home.

Wednesday 29th October

We are now back at Jackos and are staying here until Daddy gets back from England where he has got some work to do.  We have been very busy - we have been horseriding, helping out on the farm and have had to spray all of the cattle.  Tomorrow we are going riding again but before we go I have to feed the two calves who don’t have mothers, check up on all the cattle and bring some wood in for the fires - its looks like I have got my work cut out for me.  The phone lines are down out here so we can’t really send emails at the moment although mummy is hoping to go to a  friend’s house to use her phone tomorrow.

On the way here we went to a wild life park called Yellow Pinch where we got to stroke snakes and lizards. I got one round my neck. I also stroked some tame dingoes, went into the koala area and the wombat area. There were also kangaroos roaming around and a very smart cockatoo who could talk.

When Daddy gets back we are heading towards Melbourne to see the quarter finals of the rugby world cup.  Please keep in touch and send me some emails.  Thanks Michael

Monday 20th October

We have been so busy, I haven’t had time to write. We have been to a nature reserve called Murramarang near Wasp Island. It was right on the shoreline. There were a lot of kangaroos wandering around.  Some of them even came up to us when we were eating. We stayed there for one night then went to Michael Jack sons - our friend Michael Jackson not the other one.

At Jackos we went out quad-biking and helped him feed his calf.  She was called Paris. We stayed at Jackos for three nights then we came to Pambula Beach where we are now - three hours away. Daddy went home yesterday because he had some work to do.  We are staying here until Thursday when we are going back to Jackos.  Here it is basically the same as at Murramarang except better - there are still kangaroos and birds roaming around.

Today we went out whalewatching. We saw loads of whales but didn’t stay for the whole trip because I began to feel a bit seasick - I wasn’t the only one on the boat!. Then we went shopping in Merimbula.  Bye for now Mick

Tuesday 14th October

We now have a campervan. We call him Charlie. We have been really busy getting everything ready.  On Sunday we went to Hillsongs again and then went to Newcastle to get the van.  Once we had the van we went to a campsite in Sydney for just one night and then we headed towards Michael Jackson’s. We are now camping at Murramarang which is near Bateman’s Bay.  I am sleeping in a bunk which is very close to the ceiling so I bump my head on average 5 times a day. Tomorrow we are going to head on towards Jindabyne where Jacko lives. It is about a three hour drive but we are stopping at some beaches on the way. Today we have been two beaches and at one of them we paddled and at the other we played in the surf and got soaking wet. It was great fun.

 Bye for now, everyone!

Friday 10th October

yesterday we went to Taronga Zoo.  My mum used to work there so we got in free.  We met up with some friends and then went all around the park. We went to a bird show and saw lots of different kinds of animals - most of them which you find in Australia.

Today we are going to the opening Ceremony in the Rugby World Cup and a match between Australia and Argentina. it is going to be great although I am going to wear my England shirt!
