Thursday 25th March (from 3rd)
We stayed in Esperance from after Daddy went home Thursday 4th. After Daddy left we stayed at Crokers Caravan Park outside the town centre. We went to Frank and Mary’s house twice and saw lots of horses. We also went to Twilight Beach and did lots of body-boarding.It was Fun!!
After we left Esperance in took us 3 days to get to Albany. On the way we stayed at the becah at a place called Hopetoun. And we also stayed in the national park at a campsite called Stirling Range Retreat. You could see some owls and possums but we didn’t get to see any.
When we got to Albany, we stayed at Middleton Beach caraven Park for two nights. It was very cold and rained lots. We drank lots of hot chocolate to keep us warm. And me and Hannah played barbies when the sun was shining. On Monday 8th we went on a boat called the kalgan Queen down the Kalgan river. There was a funny pelican who was trying to get the fush from the eagles that we saw. Because the man was throwing fish out for them. Most of them were sea eagles. we saw one whistlying kite called kitty, and a sea eagle tried to steal her fish and did. All the birds were wild.
On Tuesday 9th my big cousin Marian arrived and she is 22!!!! She is fun and she drinks lots of Passiona, which makes her go crazy! On the day she got here we went to Whaleworld, which is where they used to kill, chop up and cook whales. In the olden days. They don’t any more which is very good. We went on one of the old whaling ships and it was a bit of a maze. I nearly got lost. On the Wednesday we went on a Silver Star cruise, but all we saw was one lazy seal on a rock.It was Mummy’s birthday too.
Then we went to a place called Denmark. At Denmrak we had a birthday party for mummy. HURRAY!!! It was really fun. I gave her a litttle wooden dolphin and a scarf. a really nice soft orange scarf. While we were there we went to some people called Bob and Tina’s house. And there were some bandicoots in their garden and babies too. There were also lots of birds. Bandicoots are like a bunny rabbit cross a rat. They are very sweet. We then to Ocean beach in the afternoon.I did a bit of body boarding but it was too rough so me and Hannah played on the sand.
Also at Denmark we went to an Alpaca Farm. An alpaca is like a little llama with lots of fluff. At the farm there was a hut with lots of guinea pigs and rabbits in it.There were some little goats in the barn and they were really cute. And one of them jumped on Michaels back when he was bending down to get something. There was a dingo called Ernee who was really really really cute. And we got to stroke him. There was a donkey what was sooooooo soft. There were some alpacas too, that you could go in and stroke. But we didn’t. There was a bison called Tyson and he was really big and hairy. And because it was so hot he was standing in his water bowl. There was a massive pig and when you touched it, it would make funny snorty, grunty sounds. There were some ferrets in the barn and Josie picked one up and it went down her top. Which was very funny. Hee Hee! There was a camel called Carmel that was very grumpy and puffed its cheeks out and blew raspberrries at people. There were some other animals too but i haven’t got time to write them all down. I had a great time as you can probably see.
After the Alpacac place, we went to a beach called William Bay. It was really nice and the water was really clear. We saw lots of fishies! And Michael, Josie and Marian went out really deep.
The next day (the 13th) we went on a walk in a place called the valley of the giants where there were some HUGE trees!!! And the highest part of the walk was 40m high!
The next day we went to place called Penberton where there are lots more big trees. One of them is called the Glouster tree and is 61m high. There is a ladder all the way around the tree up to th etop that you can climb and then a platform at the top. Michael, josie and marian all climbed it. I really wanted to but i couldn’t cos i was too small. I really wanted to but then too big men came down and they hadn’t got to the top. So, they said there was no way i could have done. I was very dissapointed. So, instead i fed some birds. You coul dout your hand with some bread on it and the birds would come and sit on your hand and eat it. And it was really fun. When Michael came down from the tree, he tried to get a bird on his head by putting some braed on his head. And josie got really exxcited when one landed in her. Marian was scared of them and didn’t want to feed them but we made her have ago.
For the night we went to a place, with farm chalets. An dtherer was a little kangaroo called Diver who was really fluffy and cute. and there was a dog called Nuggett who Diver tried to rugby tackle. And we had a glass door and Diver didn’t see it and bumped into it. It was very funny! Hee hee hee. There were some guinea pigs, only two days old, whatcould fit into the everybody’s palm of their hand apart from mine cos i was too small. There were some baby bunny rabbits and they were sooooooooooo cute, same with guinea pigs. They were all white with little pink eyes and made funny sqeaking sounds. There was a galah, who thought he was Ned Kelly. He put his tin dish in his head and walked around the cage bumping into things. He was called Floyd and was very grumpy.Therewere some calfs too and we got to give them a bottle. There were two horses too caled Vanity and Tommy. We had lots of fun at the farm.
We left the big trees and went to a place called Margaret River. Michael and Josie did some more surfing there, i wanted to but the waves were too rough. W e stayed at a place called Pevelley Beach. We also went riding twice and i rode a nice little pony called Bart. And it was really fun. We went onm a canoe trip down Margaret river and nobody in our canoe could steer properly so we kepy crashing onto the bank. And for lunch we had to eat bush tucker, which is stuff that you can eat that grows nativley. It was yuuuuuuuuuuk!!!
After Margaret river which we spent 5 days at we went o Busselton. We stayed at the Mandalay campsite. On the Sunday it was HOT, HOT, HOT! So. we spentthe day at the campsite. I made some friends and we all went swimming in the pool together. Which is where i met them. They were all really niice. The on the monady we went o Busselton jetty . Which is 2kms long!! We went to an underwater observatory and bought some funny starfish (they were magnets not real of course!).
The next day we left Busselton and drove to Bunbury, where we went to a dolpin discovery centre. It was only $5 for all of us to stand in the water less than a metre away from a dolphin. She was calle dJet and is wild and just likes to come and visit people at the centre. She also has a baby called ski. It was amazing!! After the dolphins we drove to s place called Freemantle which is where we are now. My daddy arrived back from England yesterday, and as soon as he got back we took to on a tour around Freemantle prison. It was supposed to be scary but i didn’t ge scraed. I liked the actors best! They were pretendingto be old prisoners.
Today we went on a ferry to a place called Rottnest Island and spent the day there. You could see an animal called a Quokka there. I didn’t see one but Hannah did. We went to beach lots and went snorkelling which was really fun, i saw lot s of big fish. I had a good time.
It is now quite late and i am tired and it is time for me to go to bed. So, good-night and good-bye............
Tuesday 2nd March
Daddy arrived on Thursday 12th February and we drove to a place called Clare and on Friday morning we went to a winery with an old church and lots of big barrels of wine. After that we stopped for lunch on an old train which didn’t move and then drove to a caravan park next to a beach for the night.
On Sunday we went for a 4 wheel drive tour in a national park called Coffin bay - we climbed up this massive sand dune and it was absolutely huge and it was really fun sliding down it. After that we went swimming on the beach - Hannah went under first and Michael second. We saw some wild ponies and some snakes and kangaroos and emus. - Michael waved his hat to try and get the emus to follow but they weren’t that interested.
We stayed for a couple of nights after that at Baird Bay and went out on a boat to see some seals and dolphins - the water was freezing but I swam with the seals and it was great fun.
On Thursday 19th we stayed at Fowlers Bay where there were some more big sand dunes which we played in and climbed up.
On Saturday we stayed at a place called the Eyre Bird Observatory - the person that lives there showed us some pigmy possums which were asleep behind some plastic on a mattress - they were really cute and tiny - around 5 cms long
On Monday we stopped somewhere to have a coffee and went to a bookstore which had a small dolly museum and the person who was at the bookstore asked us if we wanted to come and feed some orphaned baby kangaroos which are called Joeys and we got to feed some of them with bottles of milk and she had about 6 chichihuahuas - 4 pregnant girls and 2 boys.
Then we came to Esperance which is where we are now - since we have been here we have been on a boat to see more seals, and dolphins and we went in a glass bottom boat to see lots of fish. Another day we went on another 4 wheel drive tour when we drove up and down the sand dunes - it was great fun. We did some sand boarding - you have to carry a board up the sand hill and then sit on it and slide down for miles! I went on a really high sand dune.
On Saturday Daddy went back to England and we stayed here. Today we went out to some friends and I went on a quad bike to see some horses and hannah and I got to ride one of them bareback but he was a bit boney. he was called Sumami.
Wednesday 11th February
Now here we are in Adelaide and Daddy arrives tomorrow - hurray!
We left the Jacksons on Thursday 5th and drove over the Snowy Mountains - a long long drive and very twisty and slow but we played in the back of Charlie and had fun. We stayed at a campsite with a lovely swimmingpool and Verity Jackson (my godmother) met us there. The next day we went to a place called Beechworth which was very HOT and Mummy and Verity wanted to look at all these old buildings and wander around old shops - boring! but we had ice creams and sweeties,, and then we stayed with a friend of Veritys who had a mad dog called Freddie who barked at us all the time until we jumped into the swimming pool and then he ran around waiting for us to throw him a ball.
We left n Saturday at lunchtime and drove to a place called Moama which is on the river murray - the campsite there had a pool too so we swam. Then on Sunday there was a huge long drive and it was so hot it was 43 degrees and it was windy too - we stayed at Mildura and it was so hot that we sat with our feet in the swimming pool after dark at 9.30pm. Hannah and I played a great game being horses.
In Mildura Mummy made us look at the loch on the river. It wasn’t quite so hot and we did some shopping and went to a place called Woodsies Gem Shop which had a maze - Michael and I found our way through it. Mummy gave up and so did Hannah - Josie found her way out but went through some no entry doors. There was also an Aladin’s cave full of lots of different gem stones and rocks. After that we did a little drive (0nly two hours!) to a place called Pagina.
On Tuesday we did another big drive and got into Adelaide and went to the campsite we stayed at last time - with two swimming pools and next to the beach too - hurray - Daddy arrives on Thursday.

Thursday 22nd January 2004
It has been so long since Mummy and I have found the time to sit down together to write my webpage we think that we will have to keep it brief in order to catch up. Sorry there has been such a big gap.
The last thing we did before leaving Koonara Cottage was to go back to the caves again on Sunday and listen to some carols by candlelight. I had a purple candle and I made all the wax into little purple balls for Tassie (my toy Tasmanian Devil) to play with.
On Tuesday 16th December we drove into Adelaide and saw the place where Mummy’s Granny lived and the church where Mummy’s great grand father worked. We also went CHRISTMAS SHOPPING which was great fun and Daddy took me to see Father Christmas and I sat on his knee and got a reindeer hat and a photo. We stayed in Adelaide until Friday and then went to a place called Leonards Mill where Mummy’s Granny lived after Adelaide.
On Saturday 20th we went to Victor Harbour and saw a Christmas Parade and heard some more carols. There were lots of people dancing and giving out sweets and there were some miniature ponies. On their backs it said Riding for the Disabled. It was strange seeing really Christmassy things when the sun is shining and it was HOT.
On Sunday we got the ferry over to Kangaroo Island where we stayed in a house for 5 days. We decorated the house with tinsel and fairy lights and wrapped up all our presents which made me very excited and I kept on wanting to open them. We had a tiny Christmas tree and all the presents overflooded it!
On Monday we went to Seal Bay and saw lots of sleepy seals and then on Tuesday we went to see some more caves and Josie and Michael went adventure caving. I really wanted to but I am not big enough yet. In the evening we went on a night time tour and saw hundreds of wallabies and kangaroos and fairy penguins.
On Christmas Eve we found a lovely beach a few minutes from the house and there was no-one there. We had a picnic in the shade of a big rock which was in the middle of the sand. And then it was
CHRISTMAS DAY - Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got from Michael a Shelley, from Hannah some Barbie dogs, from Josie I got Ello and from Mummy and Daddy I got a Polly Pocket Petshop and I got lots of other things too. We went to the beach again on Christmas Day. Me and Hannaha took our Kens and my Ken’s head fell off!! and he was new (from Michael) - so we use him as a headless zombie now!!
On Friday 26th December we moved out of the house and went to a campsite at the other end of Kangaroo Island. We went to a place called Remarkable Rocks and we climbed over lots of strange shaped rocks (see photos). We went to another place where there were more seals. We watched these ones playing in the sea. We also saw some koalas at our campsite - a baby with her mummy.
On Saturday afternoon we got the ferry back to South Australia and drove back to Victor Harbour to see some more friends. Hannah and I played in the sea in our clothes and we played cheat.
Then we had to have a big drive from Adelaide to Sydney - the first day we drove for 8 hours and camped at a place called Hay - it was very HOT HOT HOT so we all slept and played in the back of Charlie. Before we left Hay we went to a sheep shearing demonstration. Then we had another big drive and stayed at a place called Yass and then on Tuesday 30th we arrived in Sydney.
On New Years Eve we went to a friend’s house - they have four children and my friend is called Livvie. She lives in England and was visiting Australia (like us - except for not as long) because her Dad is Australian. We played lots of games and went on a walk and found a $5 note. We saw two lots of fireworks - one at 9pm and one at midnight, - they were very big and spikey - then I fell asleep in Charlie on the way home.
On New Years Day we saw some more friends from England - my Godfather, Michael Summers. We went swimming in a nearby pool and watched Home Alone 4.
On Friday 2nd January we went to see The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. We went there in a water taxi which was great fun. There was a nasty white witch, a fox, a troll who worked for the witch, there were 4 kids and they went to an old house and found a country called Narnia where there was a big lion called Aslan.
The next day Daddy had to get an airplane back to England to do some work and we stayed at a campsite near the airport where we swam in the sea and then we came to Mona Vale which is where we still are.
While we have been here and Daddy has been in England Josie and Michael have been to Surf School each week and Hannah and I have done lots of riding and playing on the beach and body boarding. I rode ponies called Chilli, Harley, Twiggy and Tob. I rode Chilli twice and we went on a day camp too when I went on a trail ride in the forest.
We’ve been to see Brother Bear and Cheaper by the Dozen and we have seen some videos too - Freaky Friday, Finding Nemo. Where we are staying is very near the beach so we have been nearly every day and there is a pool too so I am swimming a lot.
Sunday 14th December
We went to some more caves on Saturday and we saw more stalgtites and mites and lots of fossils. One was a megafauna (a large unknown extinct animal) which they think was a giant meat eating wombat which could climb trees and jump on your head. I’m glad its extinct! Another one was a kind of kangaroo - we can’t remember its proper name - the guide called it Stanley. After the caves Hannah and I went riding. We couldn’t go on the proper riding trail because we weren’t old enough so we just got to ride around the yard. I rode a pony called Bubbles and Hannah rode one called Bluey. Bubbles was being very naughty trying to park herself by the fence. There were four dogs and you can go on to ‘Hannah’s Dogs’ and see their names.
Saturday 13th December
Sorry everyone that it has been so long since I last wrote any news - I don’t seem to have had many goes on the computer recently.
I finished on Sunday 16th November when we were in Forrest trying to see platypus which we didn’t but we did see lots and lots of parrots especially at breakfast time when we fed them seed. We then went to Apollo Bay and stayed there for nearly a week. While we were there we did lots of different things - like going on the Otway Fly which is a walkway up amongst the trees in the rainforest. It was wobbly and part of it was called the Flying Fox and it rocked a lot when you jumped on it. We also went riding on the beach and I rode a spotty pony and afterwards we walked up a really big lighthouse. Another day we saw lots of really strange rocks called the Twelve Apostles, and then on the last day we went in special canoes called ocean kayaks on the sea and went out to where some seals live. Hannah and I went with the guide called Travis and we didn’t have to do any work. it was great fun going through all the waves and going back to the beach we rode on the top of the waves and got wet.
On Saturday 22nd we went to a place called Ballarat in from the sea. We stayed there until Tuesday and while we were there we went to a place called Sovereign Hill which is where there used to be a goldmine town. it is all old fashioned as it would have been in the olden days when Victoria was alive. We tried to find some gold in the river but we didn’t. We went on a coach with four horses pulling it and there was a play of what it would have been like in the olden days.
On Tuesday 25th we went more inland to Echuca which is on the Murray River. We had a few days just in the town when we went on a paddlesteamer and had some snacks on it, and then we took a houseboat on the river. I swam in the river with our lifejackets on and when speedboats went past we played in the waves. I was sick on the last day which wasn’t very nice. I closed Mummy’s book but I didn’t lose her page until I pulled out her bookmark!!
Then we had a big drive on Tuesday 2nd December to a place called Hall’s Gap in The Grampians which are really big rocky hills. there were these rally noisey bugs and they are callede cicadas which were two inches big. One day we walked up beside a river to a rockpool called the Venus Pools and we played policemen with the river and the water jumped over our hands! and we went down a waterslide in the river. It was fun. We also went on a 4 wheel drive tour. We saw the black cockatoos, emus, wallabies, kangaroos, an echidna and some tiny little frogs which are born as frogs not tadpoles - there were some other ones which had been tadpoles too. We had hot chocolate in the morning as it was cold.
On Saturday 6th we went to Port Fairy back by the sea. One evening we had fish and chips on the beach while we waited for some special birds to arrive back at their burrows after eatiing fish at sea all day.
Then we went to Cape Bridgewater for three days. It had a lovely beach and we hired soe body boards and we had rubber rings to play with in the surf. We went on a boat ride which was really fun and we saw more seals too. The boat went really fast and we were at the front and the front bit kept lifting up and slamming down with a big bump on the waves. The boat went inside a cave which had lots of seals in and one of the seals went into the water and then a whole flood of them followed into the water.
Then we went to see some caves on a river called the Glenelg River. We went on a boat to get there and went inside the caves. It had these things hanging down from the roof called stalagtites. They were very pretty. There was one called the Long Engagement because it is going to take 600 years before the two bits are going to meet and there was on called The Wedding Cake because it looked like a humungous wedding cake! and there was that looked like a chandelier.
Then we stopped at a special lake called the Blue Lake which was a very bright blue and then we drove on Friday (yesterday) to where we are now. We are in a cottage called Kunara Cottage in a place called Coonawarra where there is lots of Australian wine but I didn’t have any!

Some of the penguins were quite brave and came right up to us, but some kept coming out and then running back in for ages. It was really fun. When we got back to the van it was really cold.

Another bird cracked an emu egg(plaster type) open with a rock. it was very clever. We also saw some koalas. They were asleep all the time. they sleep about 19 to 20 hours out of 24. We went riding again on Thursday but this time I went on a pony called Squidgey. I saw two Echidnas and some wild goats in a big herd which Australians call a mob. Friday was a schoolwork day as it was raining and I nearly finished my maths book which I bought in Australia. We have been feeding two calves whose mothers have died and they are getting much tamer. There names are Paris and Louis. Louis is scared of us but he is getting used to us (see photos). On Sunday we went in the back of Jackos truck while he brought the cattle in again as he needed to sort them out.
On Monday we went to a place called Thredbo. We went in a chairlift to the top of the mountain and there was lots of snow there. Me and Hannah made some snowmen what looked like blobs of snow and we made snowangels by lying down in the snow. I slid down the mountain which meant that Mummy had to follow me and she got snow inside her boots! We also went on a bobsled but I had to go on Mummy’s lap because I wasn’t tall enough and Mummy went slow. But on the second go I made her go faster.
On Tuesday we left Jackos and did lots of travelling in the truck to a place called Lakes Entrance which has the beach and a lake. We went on some paddleboats in the lake and then played in the surf on the beach and made sand tunnels. And now today after lots more travelling we are in Melbourne and we are waiting for Daddy to arrive from England, so we are staying in a hotel right next to the airport.
